One Giant Body- Bearing the Pain of our Ancestors

Maastricht

Discover the impact of intergenerational trauma and the importance of an inclusive commemoration of the Holocaust in a lecture by author Maurits de Bruijn.

In a plea for a more inclusive and contemporary approach to the commemoration of the Holocaust, Dutch-Jewish author Maurits de Bruijn will give a lecture on the importance of highlighting intergenerational trauma.

De Bruijn's mother survived World War II, while her parents and sisters were murdered in the extermination camp Sobibor in June 1943. This family history has strongly impacted his mother, Maurits' own upbringing, his work and his political stance. It also informs his sense of responsibility towards the legacy of the Holocaust.
