Discover the Limburg seasons and cityscapes through the colourful brushstrokes of Martijn Lucas van Erp.
The exhibition ‘Terroir’ by Martijn Lucas van Erp shows new work inspired by the Limburg landscape and the seasons. Van Erp, who normally works without a preconceived plan, drew inspiration for these paintings from his Limburg roots.
Van Erp's work reflects the warm Limburg light and hills, with colour compositions reflecting the seasons. Besides landscapes, cityscapes of Heerlen and Maastricht can also be seen. The artist draws inspiration from Limburg colleagues such as Aad de Haas, Defesche and Lataster, and literature such as the book ‘Crapuul’ about the Stokstraat district.
Van Erp describes his work as a quest on canvas, influenced by daily walks with his dog. His latest paintings show the history of Limburg towns and a shift from tropical light to a more earthy atmosphere. The exhibition promises a warm experience in the cold months, with oil paintings that evoke dreams of Limburg landscapes and city walks.
