On the eastern flank of the St. Pietersberg hill (overlooking the Meuse), lies a very special and valuable point of interest: the Lichtenberg Castle ruins. It is undoubtedly the oldest castle ruin in the Netherlands, with foundations dating from the 10th century. The more built-up sections date from the 12th and 15th century and are made from sandstone and marl respectively. From the top, visitors have a breathtaking view of the Meuse Valley. - Opening hours: 29 April till 4 November every sunday from 12 PM till 4.30 PM Entrance fee: Voluntary donation
