Metropole Orchestra & Richard Bona

Richard Bona and the Metropole Orchestra, led by honorary conductor Vince Mendoza, return in February 2025 with a seamless blend of musical worlds and styles. Richard Bona, a charismatic bassist, is known for his love of combining jazz with his musical roots and influences from world and pop music. He began his musical journey in Cameroon as a multi-instrumentalist and was inspired by Jaco Pastorius to specialise as a bassist. Throughout his career, Bona has collaborated with prominent artists such as Joe Zawinul, Salif Keita, George Benson, Chaka Khan, Pat Metheny, Quincy Jones and Alfredo Rodriguez.

During this collaboration, you can enjoy orchestral versions of Bona's best work and newly composed music. The Metropole Orchestra and Bona are no strangers to each other; their collaboration began in 2013 during the International Arrangers Workshop and continued during the Quincy Jones Prom in 2016 and a tour of the Netherlands in 2023. Now they have once again found the perfect moment to collaborate and create a rich mix of musical styles.
