35 years of united Germany in the EU

Maastricht

Discover the future of Europe: join the debate on Germany's role in the EU and the path to further integration!

Thirty-five years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Europe stands at a crossroads. Germany, once a driving force behind European unity, now faces questions about its role in the EU's future. The Maastricht Treaty and EU enlargement in the 1990s and early 2000s marked a period of rapid integration, but in recent years there has been a marked slowdown.

Studio Europa Maastricht and the Germany Institute Amsterdam are organizing a public program on Germany's changing role in the EU and its impact on European unity. Come and participate in a stimulating discussion with leading European experts: Aline Sierp (Maastricht University) and Funda Tekin (Institute for European Politics). Together they will try to answer the question, “Is Germany slowing down European integration?”

The debate will be in English.
