Cappella Amsterdam brings new life to Arvo Pärt's ‘Kanon Pokajanen’ and Bach's timeless motets.
Arvo Pärt has been the world's most performed living composer for years. However, his monumental ‘Kanon Pokajanen’ (1997), an impressive work for four-voice choir, was rarely performed. This changed when Daniel Reuss and the renowned choir Cappella Amsterdam took charge of this masterpiece. Their interpretation brought new life to this spiritual and meditative piece, allowing it to reach a wider audience and re-appreciate its beauty.
Besides Pärt's work, Cappella Amsterdam also performed motets by Johann Sebastian Bach. These motets, written for special occasions such as funerals and holidays, have often not survived. Thanks to Cappella Amsterdam's efforts, we can still enjoy this wonderful music. Their programme offers a unique opportunity to experience the timeless splendour of Bach's compositions, performed with the precision and emotional depth characteristic of this choir.
