Between Art and Copy

Maastricht

The Maastricht Institute of Arts is presenting a considerable part of its collection of plaster casts to celebrate the academy’s 200th anniversary

The Maastricht Institute of Arts celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2023 and, to mark this occasion, presents a significant portion of its collection of plaster casts at the Bonnefanten: the Academic Plaster Collection Maastricht. This rare and unique collection originated with the founding of the Stadsteekenschool in 1823 and now comprises approximately 500 pieces. It stands as one of the most important, diverse, and extensive plaster collections in the Netherlands. Many sculptures have a permanent place in the academy building and have become integral to the institute's identity. The exhibition "Between Art and Copy" is made possible by the Maastricht Institute of Arts, a part of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences.
