Maastricht

Immerse yourself in a new world where art forms intersect. Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke: Maps of the New World showcases new work from two long-standing British artists who continue to inspire each other.

Artist Stanley Donwood and musician Thom Yorke, best known as the frontman of the legendary band Radiohead, have had a longstanding collaboration dating back to their days as young art students. Since 1994, they have worked together on various artworks, online projects, and iconic album covers.

The artworks of Donwood and Yorke are characterized by their inspiration from various sources, including 15th-century sea charts of Arabian pirates and topographic surveys from the 1940s conducted by the US Army. By combining typical map elements such as compass roses, winding rivers, and mountain ranges with their own imagination, they create a unique fantasy world full of wondrous elements.
