Tom Schamp brings the alphabet to life with over 140 original illustrations in his latest alphabet book.
Tom Schamp views the alphabet as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for his alphabet books, including his latest work The Most Beautiful, Extraordinary and Complete Book of All Letters (Lannoo, 2024). Villa Verbeelding showcases more than 140 original, hand-painted illustrations that Tom created for this book. These illustrations, digitally processed into the final book pages, showcase his signature style of embedding images within images.
Schamp's picture books are beloved by both children and adults, with animated animal figures for the youngest readers and subtle references for adults, such as David Letterman as 'Letterman'. Villa Verbeelding now presents all the original illustrations from this book, which were previously partly featured in the expo Letterpret. Tom uses acrylic paint on cardboard, scans his work, and digitally puzzles with his extensive image database to create the final compositions.
